Stunning reproduction of an exquisitely crafted celestial chart, originally created by Isaac Frost, a 19th-century scientist and prominent member of the “Muggletonians.”

Printed on heavyweight, museum-quality Hahnemühle Fine-Art paper.

The chart depicts the belief that the Earth is at the center of the universe, based on planetary charts from Frost’s “Two Systems of Astronomy,” first published in 1846. These charts were likely only circulated among members of the Muggletonian sect. The original prints were produced using George Baxter’s innovative oil color printing technique, which allowed for subtle gradations and a luminous quality, giving the artwork its unique glow. The engravings were done by Chubb & Son in London.

Because Baxter’s printing method was costly and not commercially viable, original prints are rare. This reproduction is a beautiful tribute to the craftsmanship and precision of the original works.

Care

I'd recommended that your new print be allowed to settle for a period of time prior to framing or hanging. Place your print under a few large books, sandwiching it between tissue paper on both sides, for a minimum of 24 hours.
